March 30 - Red Box

Have I ever told you how much I love

It's so convenient and easy!

I still remember the first time I saw that big Red Box sitting in Smith's lobby. I thought, how do you do that? What do you do, order it here on this screen and then it sends something through the internet and let's you watch it at home? Or do you just tag & pay for a movie that you want to watch here and then pick it up at Customer Service inside the store? (You gotta remember, that's how you rented a movie before was at the customer service desk). I wondered what the deal was, but I didn't even try it! (durrrrrr!) I just thought how in the world does this thing work?

It wasn't until I watched someone else doing it before I even dared. It wasn't until I watched someone else do it that I saw Red Box was a vending machine for DVD's!! WOW!!  So COOL!!  I'm sure that lady thought I was a wack-O!!  I said, right out loud, "Oh. . . . . good. . . . . . I'm going to sit here and watch you and see how this thing works (this was said with total awe)"  She kind of gave me a side glance and continued on. Wow! Out came a DVD right out of that little slot. So. . . .right then and there I was hooked!!

AND. . . .When I was bored tonight and wanted to bring a little happiness into the evening, I thought I'm going to check out what's at Red Box.  OH, that's the other thing is I love their online website. You search online, order it online and then use the ONLINE RESERVATION PICKUP button, swipe your card and Wah-LA!!  out comes your movie!!  That is so cool!!!

 is the Bomb-Diggity!!

March 29 - Power of a Sword and Shield

Those are some serious eyes!!  Wouldn't you say?!!

Tonight was the Blue and Gold Banquet. Hayden has been telling me and reminding me about for two weeks now. He did not want me to forget about it.  He had a mission. During scouts one night he made a sword and shield. He did not get to bring them home. I asked him why. He said because she's going to bring them to us another night. I didn't understand why. I figured they must not have finished them and they were going to do it the next Scouts night.

Well the next Sunday they reminded the kids to remind their parents about the Blue and Gold Banquet. BING!! That was it! Hayden remembered. All the way home he was saying how we had to go to the Blue and Gold Banquet because that's where she was bring his sword and shield. Ahhhhh. . . .BING!. . . got it now. Now I understand why it's so important that we go. He was going to get his sword and shield.  What power they posses.

March 28 - Alarm Clock

Guess who got a new alarm clock?

Zac

Guess who's happy about it?

Me Ü

I was supposed to have picked this up for the last two weeks now. Just kept getting side tracked, but I finally got it done. Now Zac can use this new alarm clock to wake up with, instead of his phone.

March 27 - Sunday Morning Games

Hayden came and knocked on my door this morning around 9:00a. I asked what he needed, fully expecting him to ask for a dippy egg, but he didn't.

Instead he asked, "Mom do you want to come and play a game with me?" He asked me in a way that I could tell he was hoping with all his might, that I'd say yes.

I hadn't even gotten dressed yet and to be honest I had decided I wasn't gonna until 9:30a. But I quickly had the thought come to my mind, 'there won't be many more moments like this!'

So I said, with a smile, "I sure do!"

Hayden was happy ! ! !

And so was I ! ! !

March 26 - Alien Skin

From the time my kids were little they loved to take bath's. It was always hard to get them in and even harder to get them out. I began telling them that when their skin turned prunee that meant they had alien skin and they were turning into an alien!!  The aliens were coming to turn them into aliens! They better get out so that they would turn back into a boy. It always worked, they would get out fast. They didn't want to become an alien.

Now it's just a joke. They started laughing at me when I would tell them that as they got older. They got smarter and said that they wanted to turn into an alien - let's see what I'll look like.

But here's proof, the aliens were getting my kids today in the swimming pool. I think they have cute little alien hands, don't you?!  LOL  Ü

March 25 - Naaaauuuuggghhhhtttyyyyy!!!!!

Look at these!!  I thought they looked kinda cool until I realized that they have been eaten off!!

Naaaaauuuuuggghhhhtttyyyy deer!!!  They must not have anything to eat up there on the hill side that was burned to a crisp.  It actually sorta makes me want to feed them. I'm glad they can find something to eat. I just wish they'd eat my weeds instead of my tulips.  ;)

March 24 - Cravings!!

Okay. . .this is not an announcement. But I do have cravings once in a while still.  Do you? Those cravings are mostly sweet ones and tonight was no exception.  I was craving Sweet Cereal Treat. I like to think of it as a healthy snack, but really who am I kidding?  It involves whatever cereal you think sounds good covered in melted peanut butter, butter, brown sugar, white sugar and Karo Syrup.  We usually use, Cheerios, Rice Chex and Honey Bunches of Oats.

What's not to love?

March 23 - Goofin' Around

So I was messing around with my Photo Booth today and took some winners. I thought I'd post my favorite here, but I'm having a hard time getting it to look like I want it to. It's a funny camera in my computer that takes all sorts of funny pictures along with normal ones.  I wish I could figure out how to do the background effects and I'd post one of me on the beach. Someone is going to have to show me the trick to those I just can't figure it out.

So for today here is a silly one of me with the Mirror Effect on. I warned you, I'm being quite a goofy girl tonight. Sometimes you just need to laugh right?

Well, tonight I've been makin' myself Laugh Right Out Loud !       LOL !       hee-hee

March 22 - We're Going on Vacation!!

So my picture tonight is a little hint for you of where we are going. This little mask hangs on the wall in my living room. I love it. It reminds me of a place we love. One that we've visited four times now. And one that I can't wait to go back to in spring no less.

The last few times we've gone it's always during the summer. Which is fabulous to get out of the cold and go somewhere warm. But, I have always wanted to go during the spring time so I could see more of the flowers and foliage there. So. . .I am so excited that we booked the trip tonight. I had to take a picture of something that reminds me of it I'm so excited!! And looking forward to it makes me really happy :D

Can you guess where we're going?

March 21 - Eye Doctor. . . . Finally!!

Well, about a month ago, I took Josh to get an annual check up and his final set of shots so that we could register him for 7th Grade. That's right, Josh is going to 7th Grade next year!!!

Anyway. . . as part of  the check up, they did a little eye exam to check his vision. . . . . . . . . . . It didn't go well. The nurse said something like, 'well mom, guess you'll be getting this boy some glasses.' Hmmmmm, not what I wanted to hear. :(

Well, ever since that date, (like I said about a month ago) Josh has been asking me if he could go to the eye doctor. I have been putting it off.  I don't want Josh to have to wear glasses. Boo :( :(

Well, it's taken persistent asking on Josh's part to get me to finally get him an eye appointment.  The first round of calls did not go well.  The cost for an eye exam is surprising. The first call I made was for $150! What are you kidding me?  The next place I called said it would be $110. I was complaining a bit about it at work. Debbie told me about Costco how they only charge $50 and then Leslie said that she found Eye Masters only charges $39.  So. . . .here's a shout out for Eye Masters $39 eye exam!! Very impressive!  They did a great job. I thought it seemed very thorough. First she took a picture of his eyes which seemed like  a digital scan of his eyes. Then he had the blow test. That was not his favorite, but he did it well! The last time they tried that with me, they never got it. I was horrible!

Then the eye doctor came in and took a lot of time with him. He was very patient with him and worked to find his best prescription. At the end we discovered that Josh's eyes are healthy, they look and respond like they are supposed to. We also found out that both eyes have an astigmatism. His left eye is 20/40 and his right eye is 20/30. The doctor said that he was giving him a mild prescription because his eyes will grow and develop a lot in the next few years.  he's hoping the mild prescription will allow his eyes to do just that, he may even grow out of it.

Next step. . . . glasses!

March 20 - Zero!

Say hello to the ZERO Candy Bar.  You gotta it!  I'm tellin' ya, it's my favorite candy bar!

It's a unique combination of caramel, peanut and almond nougat covered with delicious white fudge!!  Mmmmmm, what's not to love? And, being that I can't have chocolate, this candy bar rocks!  There is nothing else like it out there. Believe me, I have looked. I do know that recently, a lot of candies have been adding a white chocolate option instead of the standard milk chocolate option. AND, my favorite thing they've added white chocolate to, is the Peanut Butter Cup. Yum-O!!

However, when I need a big ol' candy bar - the ZERO Candy Bar hits spot on!!
Now you may be asking, "Where do you get a ZERO candy bar? I've never seen them before." Well, the ONLY place I've seen them is at Wal-Mart!!  So whenever we go there, I have to grab one. I try to save it as long as I can, but it usually gets eaten that same day :D This one made it from Saturday, clear til Sunday. And it made me very happy :D

The next time you're at Wal-Mart you'll have to give one of these baddies a try :D

March 19 - The Day We Get Ready for Sunday

Today was a pretty busy day. Got a lot done I must say. Among those things were, some laundry, changing of the sheets (which is always a production around here), some dishes, a little grocery shopping, twice (forgot the eggs), soccer practice, major dusting under my bed (this included a vacuum---Yikes!!), and two boys hair cuts. Oh. . . plus I made a big dinner (at least it was a big one for me - normally would have chose one or the other--not both). I made sweet-n-sour chicken AND ham fried rice! Plus I had it cooked, the boys ate with me and I got it all cleaned up (including washing the dinner dishes) by 6:10p! That's gotta be some sort of a record for me!! WOW!!

Hayden got his hair cut first and he was giving me quite a fit about it. The only way I got him to let me cut his hair was to take a before and after picture. All of a sudden he says to me, "Mom, you have to take a picture of me first. You know for the "before" picture." I couldn't argue with that. I did pitch a little fit about cutting his whole head of hair with scissors and my fingers only. NO CLIPPERS!! He insisted. Then he whined a little bit. Then he whined a little louder and wiggled quite a bit and almost got his ear snipped. Then he wondered, out loud, "How much longer is this gonna take Mom?!" I grumpily responded, "Hayden you are the one that insisted on doing it with scissors and my fingers only - NO CLIPPERS!! It's gonna take longer this way. So just sit still until I'm done!"  Yikes! This momma was being ornery.

So today, you get the "after" picture. Which made me smile and feel happy. No more ornery momma Ü

I love those eyes!!

March 18 - Hoot - Hoot!

Lookie what came in the mail yesterday!!
I wore to work today!!
I LOVE IT!

You know what?  I just recently discovered that I really like owls. They are very cute. I'm actually thinking of starting a collection. What do you think? Ü

I found this darling owl necklace on Etsy.  Have you been to Etsy yet? I recently discovered Etsy too.  It's a fun online store for crafters.  It's sorta like going to a swap meet online!  It's a place for crafters to sell their goods. You can find all sorts of things there and often at a discounted price!  It's fun you should check it out. http://www.etsy.com/

March 17 - My Lucky Green!

This was my favorite green thing today!  Ephreda, Mormon Tea Plant or Brigham Tea Plant!  Whatever you call it, I call it FaBuLoSo!!!  I'm so glad Jeffrey thought of it and made it into a tea for me!!  It was my saving grace tonight.

I have had a cough and stuffy nose this past week. It hasn't been an extremely bad cold; no sore throat, not much of a headache and I'm not stuffy during the day. But at night, I get lots of pressure and am extremely stuffy. I also have a dry, non productive cough. I feel like I am trying to cough up my toes (through my stomach!) None of which make for a great nights sleep.  I feel like I haven't slept all week long! I tried sleeping on the couch the past two nights, but it didn't really help and ended up making my back and neck hurt.

So. . .tonight Jeffrey was trying to help me think of things to do and he thought of ephedra, our mormon tea plant.  He went out in the dark and cut some of the plant up for me and he made it into a tea.  It worked great!!

It helped me breath better and in turn get more sleep.
So. . .today my favorite green was ephedra (mormon tea plant).
It made me feel pretty lucky ;)

March 16 - Family is More Precious Than a Pot of Gold!!

Tonight was parent teacher conferences. Hayden's teacher asked him to read this little poem to me. I listened intently and was so touched. I thought he did a great job.  It made my heart happy. He smiled so big and acted a little embarrassed from all the attention. I felt very proud of him. I thought he did a great job.

What a sweet boy.

March 15 - Zac's Spot

Yes, Zachary has a "spot." No one else ever uses it (or should I say, is allowed in it). He likes it. It's got great lighting (I'd guess).
Cause that's where where he does his art. It's comfortable.
It's secluded. We find him here often.
It's his Ü

Can you dig it?!

March 14 - When We're Helping We're Happy

Cleaning the church tonight actually made me feel happy. Can you believe that? Ü Well it did Ü It was actually fun. I think it's because we were helping with five other families. And let me just tell you . . . it went so fast and I wanted them all to come and help clean my house as soon as we were done. We'd do their houses after Ü When we helped out tonight, we were happy.

It also became our family home evening for the night. Two birds with one stone Ü which brought even more happiness Ü

March 13 - Family Fun with Gma & Gpa

Tonight we were invited over to Gma & Gpa Quick's house for dinner.  It was really good we had soy sauce chicken and rice with asparagus and salad.  Then Mikelle wanted to play a fun guessing game. As you can see, you stick a person, place or thing on your forehead and ask yes or no questions to try to guess "what you are." It's harder than it sounds. It's fun to play too.

(sorry this picture was on my cell phone. Hey - maybe I need a new cell phone?   hee-hee j/k)
Everybody looks like a dork and you all laugh a lot. It's fun. Thanks Mikelle & Happy Birthday cute girl! Thanks Gma & Gpa for dinner it was great :D

March 12 - Wellsville is Beautiful!!

Did you know that Utah has a city named Wellsville? I didn't know that.  It's beautiful! It's the city just before you come to Logan. We took a ride there today to visit some friends.

What a fun day we had. It started out with an easy Emergency Preparedness Drill. I was so glad that Brianna helped me out. She made it go so much faster and it was fun hanging out with her this morning.

Next, Jeff and I decided to take the Porsche to Wellsville/Logan to visit some friends. The ride was nice. We were a little nervous about it raining, but it didn't rain a drop. It stayed sunny the whole time.

I did it again, I forgot my camera and I forgot to use my cell phone too.  So. . . I searched the internet for some pictures and this one looked like what we saw while we drove there. Well minus the leafs and a lot more snow.  So, I'm borrowing it for my blog today.

Thanks to Jeffrey googling the address and his great driving skills, we found their house very easy. When we got their we got the tour of their house which is beautiful. The kitchen has a bar *sigh* love that!! I love her dining room table too.  It's one of those square ones that fits two chairs on each side (8 people could eat around it!) lovvvvvve it!! They are also working on putting in a "theater room" downstairs which is going to be awesome!!

Then they invited us out for lunch to a little place called Angie's Restaurant in Logan. I had english chips and halibut. Yum-O!! We had such fun visiting with them they made our day a lot of fun!  Then we headed home.

We made it home just before the rain and just before our boys' Pizza Party with the Letham's to get back into the swing of soccer. Then Zac was off to a church dance.

What a fun day, filled with friends, food, porsche rides, sun and good times!

March 11 - Signs of Spring Ü

They are everywhere. The sun is shining and I can actually FEEL it. Looooooovvvvvvvve it!!! I can see my tulips poking through the ground and and my iris' poking through. I can see a hint of green in the grass and I can see buds on the trees!!

Yay!! It's coming, it's coming!!!

March 10 - coughing, Coughing, COUGHING!!!

Today I had to try really hard to get over a grumpy.  I tried really hard to push it away as soon as I realized how grumpy I was being. Hayden called me from school today and told me that his teacher said he had to call me and either get some medicine or he had to go home. I was so frustrated about that. I've never had that happen before. I'm sorry to say that I've sent him to school a lot of times before when he has a cough/cold and it's never happened before. Hayden has a cough today and a stuffy nose. I gave him some nose spray and sent him to school. I honestly thought nothing about it.

Apparently, his teacher is a doctor and knows he's too sick to remain at school.  Whatever. . . . . . her note said (and I believe I'm quoting) "Hayden has been coughing, Coughing, COUGHING!!! he needs to get some meds or he needs to go home!" I was so mad when seeing that note and grumpily checked him out and took him home. The lady was like, you're taking him home? It says you can give him some meds, I said "I don't have medication at work for him, it's at home." She looked at me like (reeeeerrr). I apologized for being so grumpy I told her I knew it wasn't her fault it was just making me so mad.  I stepped out into the hall so she didn't have to see me and I didn't want to say anything else to her. Then she stepped out into the hall and said, "I need to see your ID before you can check him out." I know I rolled my eyes at her and got out my wallet. She said, "Sorry! It's school policy!" I said, "I didn't say anything to you about it - I'm showing you my ID!"  YIKES!!  I was an ornery girl :P

So Hayden finally got there and I took him home. I gave him some more nose spray and had him snuggle up under his blanket and try to get some rest. Love that boy :)

I know this is a stretch for being happy today, but it made me feel better knowing he was safe and warm at home - trying to rest and get better.

Plus it felt good to get out and go walking tonight and walk away the grumpies.

March 9 - Seed Starters

Jeffrey has a green thumb. He started some seeds in these little peat pods. The peat pods were not sterile. Boo :( they got mold :( boo, boo!  So, he has had to really nurse them along and work on the mold and keeping them alive and growing healthy. They are all coming along pretty well now. he didn't give up. I wanted to, but he wanted to keep working at it.

I've been so impressed with his dedication to save these seeds. He really wants to have a big garden this year. They have come along great. Look at these baddies. We are going to have squash this year - yummy!

March 8 - Fat Tuesday

What is Fat Tuesday you ask? Well, Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday" which refers to the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before Lent - which begins on Ash Wednesday. We celebrated this little tradition for the first time last year by eating donuts.

We continued the tradition today with donuts from Beyond Glaze you really have got to try this place. Their donuts are so much fun. Just go to their site aren't they pretty? Too pretty to eat. . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . almost :D

March 7 - Tiny Hotdogs in a Can

Hayden came with me to the grocery store tonight. Right now he still likes shopping with me . . . . . . . . . once in a while, and I will milk that for as long as I can. He usually asks for candy just for him and I usually cave - right at the end. Tonight though he wanted a drink but not necessarily a drink to buy he was thirsty. He ended up getting one at the drinking fountain. I thought I was going to get out of there without buying anything extra until right at the end. . . .and that's when he asked for them. "Hey Mom, can we get those little tiny hotdogs in a can?" I had to smile and I caved.

Vienna Sausages it is! Who can resist that smile?

March 6 - Purple Potatoes

Have you ever bought these little fingerling potatoes from Costco? They are so fun! They are inexpensive and they are so cute. I can't get over the purple potatoes. When I cut through them the first time they were purple all the way through! Wha?!!  That is freaking awesome!!  I love it!  It made me wish that the red ones were the same way.

I used these little baddies for dinner tonight. I also used the leftover prime rib from Jeffrey's yummy dinner last night and made a homemade stew. I have to say I did good :)  I guess it's not hard to make a good stew with prime rib!

Now, who's making dinner tomorrow night?

March 5 - Blueberry Cobbler

Jeffrey made us dinner tonight. Dutch Oven Prime Rib, baked potatoes, green beans and for dessert, Dutch Oven Blueberry Cobbler! I think I could get use to this!

Yum-O!!

March 4 - Do These Look Purple to You?

Do these look purple to you? Okay, so I thought the same thing. These bulbs I chose were supposed to be a daylight light bulb. I was a little overwhelmed with all the choices you have when it comes to choosing a light bulb. For pete's sake. There are incandescent, fluorescent, compact fluorescent, fluorescent inside a standard looking bulb, halogen and now they have LED light bulbs too. Not to mention that they also have soft white, bright white and day light, and reveal.

The reveal by GE is the one I finally chose. Supposedly it's supposed to provide an excellent light for the bathroom vanity and give you natural daylight.  I was sold. It was so hard choking down the price though.

I didn't realized how much light bulbs were going to cost me. Holy cow!!  I thought light bulbs were $1 for a 2-pack. WRONG!!!  I couldn't find any type of lightbulb that cheap. Of course I am buying these big old bulbs for my light bar. Which had been going out - light bulb by light bulb and we were down to none. None for three days now and I couldn't stand it anymore.

But seriously, don't these look purple to you?!!

March 3 - With My Own 2 Hands!!

Hayden was at scouts FOREVER! He usually is very fast. I can't blame his leaders for being fast either. I think I found out why they're so fast when I subbed for his troop. They were sooooo naughty. Some of the boys were literally hanging from the curtains in the primary room. Wow, I was exhausted keeping up after them. Needless to say, Hayden had a teaching moment in the car all the way home and I asked him to be more respectful to his leaders not to act so wild. I wanted to tattle tell to all the moms. But, I refrained. Poor Hayden probably got an ear full for all of the kids.

Anyway. . . this particular scouts night was extra long. I wondered how his leaders were managing? I felt a bit nervous for them and wondered if they'd taken on a task that was too much!  Maybe they had decided to take our boys to "Paradise Island" instead. You know the one in Pinocchio where all bad boys are turned into donkeys?!  j/k. . . . lol

All I knew was that they were making bird feeders. I imagined a few things: - a pine cone covered in peanut butter and then rolled in seeds, a little bird house made from a milk carton with a popsicle stick for the perch and seeds inside it, or even a water bottle filled with seeds and wooden spoons shoved through for perches. Anyway. . . . . . I completely missed the boat.

When he finally came home, he was soooooo excited! The first thing he said to me when he walked in the door was "Mom, I made this with my own two hands!!"

"Mom, with My OWN Two Hands!!"  How AwEsOmE is that?!!  :)  :)  :)

March 1 - Came in Like a Lamb

Well March truly came in like a lamb. It was a BEAUTIFUL day. I woke up to light - light in the morning!?! I haven't seen that for some time. It was bright and sunny outside this morning!! It was just beautiful. I loved it!!  And the day just kept getting better. It was a blue-bird day, not a cloud in the sky, all day long! It was warm too. My car thermometer said it was 53°!! Fifty-three degrees!?!?!?  Can you believe that? It was awesome and much needed. I have spring fever bad!

And to continue the happiness, Jeffrey told me he would make dinner. Homemade chili and cornbread. Yum-O!!  He brought such a smile to my face.

I love to watch him make/prepare dinner. He is so fast and, being a perfectionist, everything looks so neat and appealing. It makes me smile. Plus he makes everything taste so good. He is a ratatouille! He smells the food as it's cooking and knows just what spice is needed. He doesn't even need a recipe. Just ask the boys who they think is a better cook, Dad or Mom?  They will hesitantly (because they don't want to hurt my feelings) say, Dad, every time! And they're right, he is the better cook - hands down!! I love it when he cooks.

So. . .March came in like a lamb in every aspect of my day :)  Here's hoping it goes out like a lamb too!!

February 28 - Jeffrey!

Today I woke up and didn't want to do anything. Seriously, I just wanted to stay in bed. I wanted to choose to stay in bed and do NOTHING!! It took me a LONG time to even move. Jeffrey kept asking me if I was okay? Did I feel okay? Then the questions turned to, are you ornery? I didn't really feel ornery until he started asking me that! ;)

But then I realized I was kind of ornery because I couldn't do what a wanted to do, I needed to do what I am supposed to do. Taking Zac to school at 7:10a came all too quickly and I was up and moving. I hardly talked to him because by this point I really was feeling ornery.

When I came home the kids were being so loud and crazy and I didn't say anything to them because I was so ornery, but I should have told them to stop. They were at the point where someone was going to get hurt and of course, that's exactly what happened and then I told them to stop. VERY LOUDLY and ended up hurting Josh's feelings something about me always blaming him. Boo :(!!

Well, after work I decided to try to make it a happier night - - - - - since I'd blown the WHOLE morning. So. . . I  talked nicely to Jeffrey and apologized for being so ornery and he helped me be happy, happy, happy. I love it when he does that. He just makes me smile.

Love that smile :D
